Buses Stuffed to Support the Mission
Our annual "Stuff the Bus" supplies and food drive benefiting the Allentown Rescue Mission, provided much needed support for our local ministry. Although the final tally is not in, we project that approximately 20,000 lbs of supplies and food have been received. It appears that we may be near a similar effort last year which netted 22,000 lbs of supplies and non-perishable food.A remote radio broadcast by B-104 FM took place Friday night at the Giant Food Store in Whitehall. Other area Giant Stores hosted the event Friday as well, receiving donations in Allentown, Bethlehem and Nazareth.
A live broadcast by WAEB AM 790's Bobby Gunther Walsh took place on Saturday at the Trexlertown Walmart. There were also collections at Walmart stores in Easton, Whitehall, and Bethlehem on Saturday.
Shoppers pitched in to provide cleaning supplies, personal care items and paper products as well as non-perishable food items and turkeys.
Our thanks to all who volunteered and donated!

Boy Scouts Support of the Mission is Outstanding

In mid-November,members of Boy Scout Troops 58 and 71 collected and donated a total of 2,983 pounds of food and supplies to the Mission through their "Scouting for Food" program. The total for Scout Troop 58 was 1,002 lbs of food and supplies. Scout Troop 71 totaled 1,951 lbs of food and supplies.
In addition, Boy Scout Troops 150 and 71 are going to be working on Friday and Saturday, November 20 and 21 to Stuff the Busses during the Mission's "Stuff the Bus" food and supplies drive.
These dedicated Scouts are determined to make a difference in our community by helping to ensure that our area's neediest people have enough to eat throughout the upcoming winter season.
